Job Summary:
The Manager of Process Safety will oversee the implementation and management of process safety programs within the plant to ensure a safe and compliant operational environment. This role involves collaboration across departments to identify potential hazards, assess risks, and develop strategies to mitigate them while complying with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and continuous improvement of the organization's process safety management system.
- Conduct regular process hazard analyses (PHA) and safety assessments to identify and manage risks effectively.
- Develop and enforce policies, procedures, and best practices for process safety across all operations.
- Coordinate and facilitate safety audits, inspections, and investigations to ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards.
- Provide expert guidance and support to operations, engineering, and maintenance teams regarding process safety issues.
- Develop and deliver training programs to promote awareness and understanding of process safety principles among staff.
- Collaborate with senior management to integrate process safety practices into overall business strategies.
- Monitor compliance with process safety regulations and respond to any incidents or near misses with appropriate corrective actions.
- Stay informed on industry trends, best practices, and emerging regulations related to process safety.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Safety Engineering, or a related field; a Master's degree or relevant certification (e.g., CSP, CIH) is preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in process safety management, with at least 3 years in a managerial or leadership role.
- In-depth knowledge of process safety regulations and industry standards (e.g., OSHA PSM, EPA RMP).
- Demonstrated experience in conducting PHAs, risk assessments, and safety audits.
- Strong leadership and communication skills to effectively engage with team members and stakeholders.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to assess complex systems and identify potential safety hazards.
- Proven ability to develop and implement training programs and safety initiatives.
- Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Fluency in English, with proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia advantageous.
