The Primer Group expanded to Malaysia in July 2004 through Primer Kenrich Sdn. Bhd. (PKSB), a wholly owned subsidiary that was established to take advantage of the growth opportunities in the retail sector that the dynamic country had to offer. PKSB started off by bringing branded consumer and sports products to leading department stores, and from there expanded by opening multi-brand concept stores that carry a wide and diverse range of brands and categories and then diversifying further into premium branding and positioning in key malls. Its unique offerings include branded products in various categories such as footwear, outdoor gear, travel, accessories and apparel that appeal to all ages, markets and lifestyles. PKSB initially concentrated its operations in key cities such as the capital of Kuala Lumpur, but has since aggressively expanded to include more cities and territories across Malaysia such as Ipoh and Malacca, thus widening the Primer Group’s footprint in the country’s retail landscape. But even with its already significant presence and network of 40 stand-alone shops, PKSB is not slowing down and is instead exploring other areas for expansion including e-commerce and business-to-business formats.
